Yoga and much more – Tucson AZ
Natasha, practicing in Tucson AZ, is a long time teacher and trainer of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness and has studied closely with some of the pioneers in her field. In Yoga, she studied for 8 years and was trained classically by Swami MahaTarananda of the Kriya Yoga lineage. She then spent 15 years training with Rama Jyoti Vernon. Rama helped found the Yoga Journal, Unity in Yoga, the National Yoga Alliance, the International Yoga College and other organizations related to conflict resolution and global peace. For the last 3 years Natasha has studied with Richard Miller of the Integrative Restoration Institute, where they have developed a highly effective meditation protocol.
Natasha is the director of the International Yoga College, she carries the highest level of yoga teacher certification via the National Alliance (E-RYT) and is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Natasha’s mindfulness background grew out of her yoga training and her original association with Miraval: Life in Balance, which advocated mindfulness as a new wellness paradigm. She has studied with various Buddhist teachers- namely Shinzen Young of the Vipassana Support Institute and Dharma teachers from the Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Most significant to her style of teaching, is her professional training with the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn. This Center is well renowned for the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program which forms the basis of most of the research that has been conducted on the clinical and measurable effects of mindfulness.
Natasha’s graduate training at the Interfaith Theological Seminary founded by the Reverend Doctor Beverly Lanzetta, is central to her teaching and practice as well. A 3 year program in Interfaith theology, pastoral practice, contemplative healing traditions, and spiritual direction culminated in her ordination in 2000 as an Interfaith Minister. Natasha is a member of the Order of Interfaith Contemplatives, Spiritual Directors International, and is a faculty member for the Hesychia School of Spiritual Direction and the Contemplative Study & Retreat Sabbatical Program, both at the Redemptorist Renewal Center.
More recently, Natasha completed a 1 ½ year facilitator training program in Growth & Transition with Larry and Anne Lincoln. This training passes on the experiential work of Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, who was the creator of the hospice and palliative care movement in the USA. Natasha now serves as an intern facilitator for the Growth & Transition programs.
Natasha also helped launch the Mindful Veteran’s Project in Tucson. Working with a private non-profit organization MVP offers free Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Integrative Restoration programs to veterans, veteran’s family members, and active military dealing with stress and trauma.
Natasha is the owner and director of Yoga at Heart a teaching, training, and consulting business dedicated to furthering the application of contemplative wisdom in the world.
